We are a food bank that provides parcels of food, toiletries, cleaning products and fresh produce to those facing financial crisis.
We are not a long term solution but aim to work with individuals to resolve financial challenges and provide food and household support during that time.

Rushden and Higham Food Bank operates on a self referral basis. You do not need to be referred by someone to come and see us.
Visit us during our opening hours to get a food parcel.

You may be asked for ID when you attend the foodbank.
We offer food parcels for people who are experiencing immediate financial crisis. This might be because you’ve lost your job, you are off sick, you’ve had a relationship breakdown or there have been delays in your benefits. It could be something else too.
You can receive up to 6 parcels in a years period and for this we do ask you for some paperwork and details. This is to help us help you, and help us keep a record of how many people we help, and why they have come to us.
If you need more than 6 parcels, we may ask you to work with us to try and resolve the challenges you are facing. This could be doing some budgeting work, working with you to resolve debt, looking at your benefits or asking you to work with another agency.
We do this because we have limited stock as we rely on donations, and because we do not want anyone to have to rely on a foodbank where they dont need to.

Do I need a referral?
If you are struggling to buy food for yourself and your family, you can self refer. You need to live in the Rushden and Higham area.
How do I get a food parcel?
Once you have registered with us, we will give you up to 6 food parcels during the course of a year. Once you have had all your parcels you are still welcome to come in and take fresh produce from the shelves.
Do you deliver?
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a delivery service, but you can arrange for someone to collect your parcel for you if you wish.
Do you have pet food?
We often have pet food, but it does depend on what donations we have received.
What's in a food parcel?
The parcels contain a selection of tinned and packet food, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, cereal, milk and toiletries. You can also take bread and fresh fruit and vegetables from our shelves. Parcels vary slightly depending on what has been donated.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
As we rely on donations we are limited in what we can offer but if we know of a special need that you have, we will do our best to accommodate you.
What if I can't come during opening hours?
Once you have registered you can nominate someone to collect your parcels for you.
Do I need to bring anything?
Please bring proof of address and something to show that you are in difficulty e.g. a bank statement or evidence of a problem with you benefits or employment. You will need to bring a bag for the extra items that you select.
Can someone pick it up for me?

Can I bring my children?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your children with you.
What other support do you offer?
Encompass has two homeless projects and an addiction and rehabilitation unit. We also have close links with other organisations and can signpost you to them for help eg. Debt or benefit problems, employment issues, addiction and homelessness.
