ROC Raunds / Rushden Action Group

We had a great turn out for the ROC Conversation Raunds / Rushden on Wednesday 30^th January 2019, with around 80 people gathering at Saxon Hall. There were representatives from churches, schools, councils, police, charities, businesses and local residents.

It was sobering listening to about some of the issues that affect our local communities, such as ‘county lines’, drugs, gangs, violence, youth engagement, family support and elderly isolation. Download a copy of the report.

25% of attendees have volunteered to join an action group to try to tackling the issues reported. We are inviting more members of  the local community to get involved. If you would like to be part of the action group then you are welcome to come to the first meeting on Friday 15^th March 7pm at Rushden Salvation Army, Church Street Rushden.

We are really excited about the prospect of local people working together to strengthen their local community.

We are already aware of:

• people being inspired to make a difference
• people deciding to take action in small ways in their neighbourhoods
• new connections being made between organisations and individuals
• new resources identified in addition to the areas of need
• new understanding and thinking with regards the issues our communities are facing
• excitement and hope in knowing that many other people care about Northamptonshire

We are also encouraged by the number of people who have indicated they would like to be part of the action group moving forward.

We have now set a date for the first Action Group meeting:

Time: 7.00pm til 9.00 pm
Venue: Rushden Salvation Army, 16-20 Church Street, RUSHDEN, NN10 9YT
Parking: the easiest parking is John Street Car Park also accessible from Duck Street

Attendance: Please pre-register to help us!

We would like to make the evening as productive as possible. To aid this, please pre-register for the evening indicating some basic information.

We look forward to gathering to review the findings and to dream and plan together on what part we can play in making a difference in our area.
